Vehicles with BPW self-steering axles, series LL,
a "rigid axle/steering axle ratio" of 1:1 is permitted.
With tri-axle bogies a rigid axle may also be raised

Axle lift devices operate either electrically / pneu-
matically via an electric switch or manually / pneu-
matically via a manual valve (or automatically via a
compact valve).

An overload protection device, which is a legal
requirement, is included in the BPW installation kit.
It is recommended to lift the front axle of a sus-
pension due to the improved ground clearance
(gradient of superstructure) and to the longer wheel R Reemmaarrkkss::
base, thus resulting in more stable driving charac-
teristics. BPW air suspensions and axle lift devices only op-
erate as well as the installation of the air suspen-
